Hi friends -
I know, I know… I should have sent this newsletter out sooner. To be honest, I haven’t read as much in September as I usually do and instead spent most of my free time watching investment videos and editing travel videos in iMovie. That said, here is a few articles that I discovered last month that you might like. Enjoy!
Flight 93 Transcript: This one is sad. Allegedly, it depicts the conversation between the 911 operator and Todd Beamer who was on the 4th hijacked plane on 9/11. Regardless of the transcript’s accuracy, it made me question what I would do if I were in Todd’s shoes on that plane today or maybe 10 years from now. At first, it might be easy to say, “Oh I would’ve done the same” but when you pause for a second to imagine and be honest with yourself, it gets more difficult to answer that question.
Roots of Progress: I am 100% hooked on this blog. I will probably keep sharing more posts from it in the future. At the very least, I’d highly recommend reading the history of smallpox (fun fact: The Ottoman Empire gets significant credit for helping Europe adopt vaccines)
Typography: Short and sweet introduction to typography. Interesting for its own sake but could also be practical at work when creating power-point decks etc.
Serious Eats: Arguably the most comprehensive and well-designed home-cooking content on the internet. It contains a LOT of information so if you are simply looking for a starting point, I’d go with this eye-opener article on 7 Myths About Cooking Steak
Review of Capital in the Twenty-First Century: I keep coming across this book on Twitter but honestly, I am slightly intimidated to read it end to end. Found the review compelling so if anyone wants to take a stab at the full text with me, let me know.
See you next month!
